Mapledurham Lock marks the end of the reach from Reading to Mapledurham and the gateway upstream to the unspoilt Pangbourne reach. It acts as a boarding point for some of our up-river cruises and whilst waiting for the lock gates to open you get an excellent view of the weir and salmon ladder. This is real Wind in the Willows country - could Mapledurham House have been the inspiration for the lavish residence of Mr Toad?
